The Municipality of Messines, like any other municipality in Québec, must comply with the Municipal Code of Québec with respect to its budget process and cycle.
Every year, the municipal council is required to prepare and present a balanced budget at a special meeting. It is through this financial exercise that the general administration succeeds in managing the Municipality’s public funds in a rigorous and responsible manner while ensuring the quality of services offered to its citizens, and this at the lowest cost possible
At the special meeting held on January 20th, 2025, the mayor Mr. Ronald Cross, tabled the 2025 budget estimates of $3,929,084
2025 Budget Outline:
- A balanced budget, representing revenues and expenditures of $3,929,084
- A decrease in the property value tax rate of 23,47¢ per $100 of assessment
- Tax rate for waste collection, transportation and landfill services maintained at $118 per residence
- Elimation of the service charge for the collection, transportation and recovery of recyclable materials, the cost of which is now assumed be Éco Entreprise Québec
- Stabilization of the taxe rate for the septic program service at 109.50 $ per collected unit.
